USDA FOREST SERVICE ADMINISTRATIVE SITE

MADRAS CITY HALL & POLICE STATION

Madras, OR

Steele Associates worked closely with the City of Madras to design the new City Hall/Police Station, a concept for the entire block, and a public plaza. SAA donated their services to integrate the new Tommy Tucker Memorial and existing Veteran’s Memorial into the design. This project won a Building a Better Central Oregon Award, the 2013 HDDC Commercial Project Award and is Energy Trust of Oregon Gold Certified.

“In the last several years the City of Madras has worked with Scott Steele and his firm on several projects. Their commitment to our community exceeded any common business relationship. Their work products have been exceptional. And, importantly, it was obvious that they “listened” to us and our citizens as they applied their talent, art and professionalism… We have worked with many fine architectural firms and engineers and I can say with certainty that Steele Associates rises above all of them.”

SISTERS CITY HALL

Sisters, OR

SAA designed this new 9,226 SF City Hall which accommodates the City Public Works, City Community Development, Finance/Administration, City Council and City Manager. The project exhibits our experience in designing within a required design theme (the City of Sisters has an 1880’s western theme design requirement to fit within the community) as well as designing to fit within a campus-like setting (the City Hall is located within a campus consisting of the Sisters School District Administration Building and the Sisters Branch of the Deschutes County Library). The new council chambers incorporate state of the art audio visual systems. The clock is a local creation done by Beacham Clock Company.

DESCHUTES COUNTY JUSTICE CENTER

Bend, OR

SAA worked extensively with the County and the Oregon Judicial Department on this major renovation. The project has greatly enhanced the character of Bond Street and Greenwood Avenue as it repaired the stark existing building by creating a more urban, pedestrian friendly, and contextual new addition.

“Thanks for all the hard work and your creative design of the Justice Building remodel. I liked the building’s new facade from the moment I saw it. Its urban look is architecturally pleasing and is a vast improvement of the existing structure. Spending the extra time to explore and develop a long-term site plan that we can grow into over the next 20 years is also a major advantage to the justice system. Congratulations on a job well done and creating a design that should endure and provide added character to downtown Bend for years to come.”

Oregon Judicial Department

BOWMAN MUSEUM ADDITION & REMODEL

Prineville, OR

Steele Associates worked closely with the Crook County Historical Society and Bowman Museum staff to design this contextual addition and remodel. The existing building next to the beautiful museum was in very poor condition. SAA designed an entirely new façade and redesigned the existing building.

“We are very pleased with both the aesthetics and functionality of our museum capital expansion. The highly professional staff at Steele Associates Architects did an exemplary job of shepherding us through a creative design process and a technically challenging construction procedure, acting both as our architects and project managers.”
