Sisters School Distrtict & District Campus Master Plan - Sisters OR.

Oregon Department of Energy Showcase High Performance School

2003 “Building a Better Central Oregon” Design Award Winner

Scott Steele (President of Steele Associates Architects) was the lead master planner, designer and architect of record for the project. Steele Associates worked with both the Sisters School District and members of the Sisters community in developing a 120-acre, multi-phased, sustainable master plan. The master plan includes the new 700-student high school, a future elementary school, a future facility complex, administration office, SOAR building, a ball field complex, an environmental center and a trail system connecting to the Conservation Area and City of Sisters. Steele Associates solicited input from maintenance staff and the snowplowing contractor, taking their input to heart, SAA designed easy to plow vehicular areas, snow detention and storage swales and a building and roof design that mitigates snow and drainage issues.

“However, the most notable work that I want to note was the work Scott and his firm did in all aspects of the design and architectural work for the new Sisters High School completed in 2003. Again Scott was the principal and lead architect for this project. The results are incredible! The facility Scott designed and led his project team to develop is one that has resulted in a tremendous amount of community pride. It is a durable and sustainable school that serves as a center for community activities that I have no doubt will last well into the next century.”
